The Claddagh became a token of love, loyalty and friendship when a seafaring Spanish goldsmith fell in love with a girl from the Claddagh village and crafted the first Claddagh ring for her. Since that time the Claddagh has become a symbol of love throughout the world. A Claddagh with the heart facing towards ones heart is seen as a proclamation of love and the heart facing away from ones heart is a sign of being uncommitted. The crown is for loyalty, as a man promises to be loyal for life to his bethrothed. The hands represent friendship as ones partner in life is also ones best friend. A nicely detailed mood ring. The inside of the ring is highly polished rhodium plated. Ring is made of cadmium and nickel free base metal. Fine example of handcrafted fine vitreous glass enamelled jewellery.
